Oscar Leal
In Our Blood, Bump, Black SnowActor Oscar Leal left his native Colombia at the age of 18 to learn English and study business abroad, settling in Australia to attend UNSW and later moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting, where he trained with esteemed acting teachers Michael Woolson and Lesly Kahn. Here, Oscar would book his first acting role in the Mexican-American hit show LA PILOTO in 2019.
Oscar returned to Sydney in 2020 and then quickly broke into the Australian industry with a string of bookings: he joined the cast of STAN’s hit Australian series BUMP in its second season and, as Hector, Oscar impressed in his role and was asked to return in the third, fourth and recently wrapped season five. He would then be cast in the role of Alejandro in the much-anticipated STAN/Screen Australia co-produced series Black Snow, released in 2023 and nominated for best miniseries at the AACTA awards ’24, the same year Oscar Landed the role of Gabe the romantic lead in the HIV crisis ABC TV series IN OUR BLOOD, which was also nominated for best mini series at AACTA awards ’24.
Oscar is passionate about telling stories with a strong message and focus on diversity and representation. He co-produced the short films BLOOD ORANGE which was selected as part of the internationally recognised Australian short film festival Flickerfest, and THE HORN which was selected as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival ’24, Adelaide Film Festival ’24 and Tirana Film Festival ’24 in Europe. Oscar has currently completed the scripts for two feature films WOMAN OF MIST and HOW TO SEE IT alongside his writing partners Mark Wills and Rahel Roman which are placed with prestigious Australian and International producers.
